Woodstock’s own Brandon Barker was the Brave’s 16 round draft in 2014 and advanced rapidly from Rome to pitch for the Carolina Mudcats last year. While with them he also has had an ERA of 3.13 over 13 apperances.
How did you get started playing baseball?
I always played travel baseball as a kid. Loved/ Love the game. Got a scholarship to play at Mercer University. Spent 4 years there where I graduated. Got drafted by the Braves in 2014.
What has been your greatest sports memory so far?
Getting Carolina pitcher of the year and pitching against Mississippi state my 2nd year at Mercer where I pitched 8 innings and we got the win.
How often do you train?
Almost every day. Doing something different everyday.
What are your goals?
To get to the major leagues and have a successful career.
Have you ever suffered an injury that kept you from competing?
Yes, shoulder soreness and a broken finger.
How does Dr. Addison help you compete at the highest levels?
Dr. Addison has helped me prepare for spring training/college baseball season by getting my shoulder and the rest of my arm in shape and helped get any bumps and bruises out before the season starts. I believe what he does should be added to any pitchers preseason routine.
What keeps you motivated?
The dream of playing major league baseball.
Brandon Barker has had a great career so far and we feel like he is destined for the Majors. He has won Pitcher of the Year with the Carolina Mudcats and has no interest of stopping there!
