Krav Maga or “Contact Combat” is a modern form of martial arts and self defense developed for Israeli military and intelligence forces. Taylor is on her way to be one of the few Americans to earn a black belt, currently there are only 12 others.
Here is what she has to say about her sport and journey:
What is your best experience in Krav Maga?
Earning my technical II status. The belt testing is 7 and a half hours long. It definitely pushes you beyond your limits physically and mentally. Being able to not only make it through, but pass and receive praise from one of the best instructors in Krav maga made me extremely proud of myself.
What drew you to Krav Maga?
A friend of mine had suggested it to me when I mentioned that I wanted to try a new martial art. I already had a foundation in kick boxing and had dabbled in muay thai.
What is your training regimen like?
I train on my own 7 days a week and I work with my instructor 3 to 4 days a week.
Krav Maga is a tough sport, have you ever suffered an injury that kept you from competing?
A few months back I strained my shoulder and rotator cuff, which prevented me from training for 2 months.
How has Dr. Addison helped you get back to your training?
Dr. Addison’s attentiveness to my injuries and ART techniques not only helped rapidly heal my shoulder and rotator cuff, he also improved my over mobility. Now when I practice krav, I can tell that there is a positive improvement in my movement and agility.
With the rigor of your training and recent injury, what keeps you motivated to keep at it?
My love for the sport and my instructor. I enjoy improving my skills and broadening my knowledge in self defense.
